A good wedding QR code is more than a black square. When guests pull out their phones in a dim reception hall, the code needs to be scannable on the first try, match your wedding style, and lead somewhere useful.
The code and the background must have strong contrast. Dark code on light background always works. Reverse contrast can look elegant but often fails to scan. If you want to play with color, keep the code itself dark and save the color for the background or frame.
The white space around the QR code is called a quiet zone. It tells the scanner where the code ends. If you crop too close to the dots or place the code on a busy background, scans fail. Always give your QR at least 4mm of space on every side.
For a table sign, aim for a QR code at least 1 inch by 1 inch. For a mini card at each place setting, 1.2 to 1.5 inches is a safe minimum. For a wedding invitation with the QR in the corner, 0.8 inches is the floor. Smaller and older phones will struggle.
